We had new friends come and visit the island. Michael Bracey is working on documenting African descendants in the various places in the world where they have settled.

 

They, his wife Maria and a friend Ruth Goring who are from Chicago, are visiting Colombia for a few weeks ,and Bocachica was one of the stops. Michael takes photographs and talks to the locals about their history. He has published and had exhibits about his work.
   He also encouraged the young people, especially the young men, in being a better next generation here on the island.  They saw the filter program and gave a filter to the community here, which we and a family here will be thankful for.

 It was a short visit, but was fun...
